Hillsborough Republican Club to Award Two $500 Scholarships
For the third consecutive year, the Hillsborough Republican Club will offer two $500 scholarships to Hillsborough High School graduates who will be furthering their education at a college or university. The scholarships will be presented to one male and one female graduate at the High School’s awards night in June.
As in the past, applicants must demonstrate community involvement and will be required to write an essay on a subject selected by the Club. The 2010 subject is "My Pledge for One Act of Patriotism to Support and Honor My Country." All entries will be blind reviewed by a special panel of judges.
The Club would like to thank Toni Natale for her generous gift toward the Scholarship Fund in memory of her late husband Tony. Tony was a long time resident of Hillsborough, an active member of the community, and an active member of the Hillsborough Republican Club.

Congressman Leonard Lance was the guest speaker at the Hillsborough Republican Club's January 11th meeting.
Congressman Leonard Lance was elected to the United States House of Representatives in November 2008 to represent New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. The 7th Congressional District includes parts of Hunterdon, Middlesex, Somerset and Union Counties.
Prior to coming to Congress, Lance served as a member of the New Jersey State Senate beginning in 2002, where he represented the 23rd Legislative District. He held the position of Minority Leader of the Senate from 2004 to 2008.
Lance was sworn in as a Member of Congress on January 6, 2009 and was appointed to the House Financial Services Committee, where he works on a wide range of issues relating to the financial services sector and the American economy.
Before his election to the State Senate Lance served in the New Jersey General Assembly for 11 years (1991-2002), where he chaired the Budget Committee.
